About the Service

The service was produced as part of the Open Learning Centre project (in 2001-2003) which was coordinated jointly by the International Cultural Centre Caisa and Helsinki City Library. The project was funded by City of Helsinki and the European Social Fund. In 2005, the Info Bank was turned into a nationwide service. The website now contains essential information relating to the whole country as well as local information on Helsinki, Kuopio, Rovaniemi, Turku, Tampere and the Kainuu Region. At the moment, the service is sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education and the participating cities. The authorities and other experts responsible for providing the services have contributed to the development of the content of Info Bank. The cooperation continues.

The general information available in the Info Bank is updated by the Helsinki editorial team, which also attends to the service information pertaining to the City of Helsinki. The editorial teams located in other cities are responsible for updating the local information relevant to the city in question. The development of the Info Bank is supported by editorial boards, which consist of representatives of numerous authorities and organisations.

The technical side of the service is provided bySininen Meteoriitti Oy. Semantix Lingua Nordica Oy has provided translations of the Info Bank into Swedish, English, Somali, Russian, Estonian, French, Serb Croat, Turkish, Persian, Albanian and Spanish, and also attends to keeping the language versions up-to-date. The Arabic translation was provided by Ahmed Khalil, and Edmon Dolaian is responsible for updating the Arabic language version. The original Chinese translation was provided by the Chinese-Finnish Media Team, and further translations are provided by Lei Zhang.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the creation of Infobank!
