Low-income households can apply for housing allowance. Housing allowance can be used towards permanent rented accommodation, right-of-occupancy accommodation or owner-occupied accommodation in Finland. A household consists of people who share a living space. Housing allowance is granted for a household.
The following factors affect housing allowance and the rent share that you will need to pay yourself.
- the number of people in the household
- the location (municipality) and size of the apartment, the construction year of the building, and the method for heating the apartment
- the housing costs of the household
- the total monthly gross income of the household
- assets
