Asumistuki

Low-income households can apply for housing allowance. Housing allowance can be used towards permanent rented accommodation, right-of-occupancy accommodation or owner-occupied accommodation in Finland. A household consists of people who share a living space. Housing allowance is granted for a household.

The following factors affect housing allowance and what part of your housing costs you will have to pay yourself.

  • the number of people in the household
  • the location (municipality) and size of the apartment, the construction year of the building, and the method for heating the apartment
  • the housing costs of the household
  • the total monthly gross income of the household
  • assets

The Kela website provides more information on housing allowance in Finnish, Swedish and English.
