Health centre
Health care services in Kauniainen are provided by the Health Centre. The Health Centre includes, for example, doctors’, nurses’ and public health nurses’ receptions. The Health Centre is open on weekdays between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.

Emergency Medical Services
The Health Centre is closed in the evening and at the weekend. During these times, acute illnesses and accidents are dealt with by emergency medical services at Puolarmetsä and Jorvi hospitals in Espoo. Child health
Advice and assistance concerning children’s health can be obtained from the nurse at the pre-natal and child care clinic or from a doctor. Pre-natal and child care clinics support families with children in the tasks of parenting and bringing up children, providing treatment and examinations which underpin child development.

When a Child Falls Ill
If your child should fall ill, contact the Kauniainen Health Centre where necessary, or call the 24-hour health counselling service on (09) 10023. Calls outside office hours may also be made to emergency care at Jorvi Hospital, tel. (09) 4718 3300. Service is available in Finnish and Swedish and, generally, also in English.

Persons suffering from mental health problems may contact the Health Centre. Doctors at the Health Centre will refer the customer if necessary to mental health services or psychiatric care.

The Health Centre employs a psychologist, whom the customer may contact directly. The psychologist will help in the charting of problems and give crisis therapy and discussion therapy. A doctor’s referral will be necessary for treatment of depression.

In case of gynaecological problems contact the Health Centre for an examination by a general practitioner. There are no specialised gynaecologists practising at health centres, however.
Venereal diseases
Contact the Kauniainen Health Centre in case of gynaecological or urological problems. Kauniainen residents may also visit the Outpatient Clinic for Venereal Diseases in Helsinki without the need for a doctor’s referral.
