Finnish language teaching in Mikkeli (Suomen kielen opetusta Mikkelissä)
South Savo Vocational College (
Etelä-Savon ammattiopisto/ESEDU)
Finnish language teaching at the South Savo Vocational College is provided as part of labour market training. The training involves full-time study, and acts at the same time as integration training. The training programmes are intended for unemployed immigrants, and generally start in August-September and in January.
Applications for training are made via the Mikkeli Employment and Economic Development Office in May-June and November-December. More information about available training is provided by the Mikkeli Employment and Economic Development Office.
The South Savo Vocational College also arranges voluntary preparatory training for vocational education for immigrants (MAVA) that has emphasis on Finnish language teaching. This teaching can also form part of integration training.

Multicultural Centre Mimosa (Monikulttuurikeskus Mimosa)

Unifem and Zonta
The Unifem and Zonta associations cooperate to arrange small group, pair, and individual tuition for immigrant women according to customer needs. Tuition is free.

Community College of Mikkeli (Mikkelin kansalaisopisto)
The Community College of Mikkeli arranges evening Finnish language courses for immigrants. The courses generally begin in September and January.

Worker’s Educational Association (WEA) (TSL –Työväen sivistysliitto)
The WEA arranges daytime Finnish language courses. The supporting language is Russian. For the unemployed, participation in the courses will not affect unemployment allowance, and entitles them to a discount.

Finnish as a foreign language is taught as an upper secondary school subject at the Mikkeli Distance and Adult General Upper Secondary School. The fee for participation in individual courses is around EUR 50. More information about the courses is available on the school website in Finnish.
