Culture and Leisure
The City of Helsinki organises various cultural and sports events. Many of these events are free or only a small admission fee is charged. Cultural events are organised in different parts of town.
The Taru Project provides support for immigrant artists. The Global Music Centre collects information on immigrant musicians and bands in Finland.
Cultural Office
The Cultural Office (kulttuuriasiainkeskus) functions as a unit of the City of Helsinki. Its objective is to promote events relating to culture and art.
The centre operates in the following fields:
- Development of urban culture
- Venue hire for event organisers and private purposes
- Organisation of its own activities
- Granting financial allowances and awards / supporting cultural events and production of cultural events
