Etnika-Kainuu ry, immigrant association

Etnika-Kainuu ry is an immigrant association, established in 2001, which today has approximately 100 members. The purpose of the association’s activities is to help foreigners living in Kainuu, to give guidance, to promote general conditions for integration and employment, to foster cultural traditions including the mother tongue, to develop cultural exchange and ways of spending leisure time, to increase intercultural knowledge and to promote friendships between Finns and people with different cultural backgrounds.

The association’s objective is to promote equality, tolerance, and the development of friendship between immigrants and Finns. Practical activities involve various exercise and recreational events, and information seminars. Future plans include the organisation of language training and hobby activities both for adults and children.
