Administrative councils are local administrative units of the state. These Councils deal with e.g. registration matters. The Population Information Register contains basic information on all people living in Finland. You must inform the Administrative Council when you move to Finland, between different localities within Finland or away from Finland.
The Administrative Councils also have various other responsibilities. You can, for example, get brochures and information from them on those companies and associations which are recorded in the register.The district registrar of the Administrative Court performs civil marriages. All possible nuptial agreements, for example, are registered at the Administrative Council. At the Administrative Council, you can also get a residency certificate, with which you can prove where you have lived or where you are living at the moment. You can ask for the certificate also over the telephone or via email.
