Lapsen terveys
"Water is the doctor for dirt."
(Finnish saying)
Nurses and doctors at child health clinics provide advice and health care for children. Mothers are instructed to visit the clinic already during their pregnancy and once the babies are born, they are to be taken to the clinic for checks at regular intervals. The growth and development of children is monitored and this is necessary in order to be able to ensure that children receive all vaccinations, for instance.
Circumcision of girls is illegal in Finland. Information on the Circumcision of Boys is available on the Sexuality page.
Health Care in Schools
Health care and dental care is arranged for school children at schools. Children can visit the school nurse if they have problems or feel ill.
